The Origin And History Of Fireworks

Approximately 1,000 years ago. A Chinese Monk by the name of Li Tan, who lived in the Hunan Province close to the city of Liuyang. Is credited with the invention of what today we know as a firecracker. On the 18th of April each year the Chinese people celebrate the invention of the firecracker by offering sacrifices to the Monks. There was a temple established, during the Song Dynasty by the local people to worship Li Tan.

Today, fireworks mark celebrations all over the world. From ancient China to the New World, fireworks have evolved considerably. The very first fireworks — gunpowder firecrackers — came from humble beginnings and didn’t do much more than pop, but modern versions can create shapes, multiple colors and various sounds.

Fireworks are a class of low explosive pyrotechnic devices used for aesthetic and entertainment purposes. They are most commonly used in fireworks displays (also called a fireworks show or pyrotechnics), combining a large number of devices in an outdoor setting. Such displays are the focal point of many cultural and religious celebrations.

A firework also has a fuse that is lit to ignite the gunpowder. Each star makes one dot in the fireworks explosion. When the colorants are heated, their atoms absorb energy and then produce light as they lose excess energy. Different chemicals produce different amounts of energy, creating different colors.

Fireworks take many forms to produce four primary effects: noise, light, smoke, and floating materials

Most fireworks consist of a paper or pasteboard tube or casing filled with the combustible material, often pyrotechnic stars. A number of these tubes or cases may be combined so as to make when kindled, a great variety of sparkling shapes, often variously colored.

Fireworks were originally invented in China. China remains the largest manufacturer and exporter of fireworks in the world.
